Number Plate Maker started with a simple frustration: buying number plates online was either cheap and questionable or confusing and slow. You couldn’t see exactly what you’d get, you didn’t know whether it was legal, and the paperwork felt like an afterthought.
So we built the plate builder we wanted to use.
What we believe
- Legal by default. In road-legal mode our builder won’t let you choose an illegal font, colour or spacing. We check documents because the law requires it – and because it stops your registration being cloned.
- What you see is what you get. Every preview is drawn to scale in millimetres, including the depth of 3D, 4D and 5D characters.
- Show plates are for showing off. We love custom plates – bubble plates, neon 4D, carbon backgrounds – and we label them clearly so nobody gets caught out.
- Straight answers. Our guides explain UK plate law and styles in plain English, checked against the current rules.
How your plates are made
Road-legal plates start with BS AU 145e reflective plate blanks. Characters are set in the mandatory Charles Wright font, positioned to the legal spacing and finished as printed, 3D gel, 4D acrylic or 5D gel.
